Lavrov to take part in East Asia Summit in Brunei on Oct 10
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is to travel to Brunei on Wednesday to take part in the 8th East Asia Summit scheduled for October 10 in Brunei's capital, Bandar Seri Begawan.
The East Asia Summit was established in 2005 as a platform for strategic dialogue between the leaders of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region on fundamental political issues, sustainable development, and promotion of practical cooperation between them. Russia officially joined the East Asia Summit during the 5th summit in Hanoi in 2010.
At the present time, the forum is comprised of ten states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and its dialogue partners, i.e. Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, Russia, South Korea and the United States.
Russian investment to flow into Southeast Asia
Last year Russia invested $2.2 billion in ASEAN countries and received $1.4 billion in return. The reciprocal flow of investment holds great potential for growth. Read more>>>
