Russia grants refuge to over 500 Syrians - Federal Migration Service
The Federal Migration Service has refuted human rights activists' reports alleging the presence of several thousands of Syrian refugees on the Russian territory.
"There is no flow of thousands of refugees from Syria into Russia," Federal Migration Service head Konstantin Romodanovsky told Interfax on Saturday.
"Some 514 people with the origins in Syria applied to the Federal Migration Service and were granted temporary asylum in Russia this year," he said.
As a rule, the applicants are married to Russian citizens who returned home after the armed conflict had broken out in Syria, Romodanovsky said.
