Russia, Interpol to negotiate in Lyon intl search for Browder - source
A delegation of Russian senior law enforcement officers will visit Lyon, France next month in order to negotiate an international search for businessman William Browder with the cooperation of Interpol.
Russia has charged Browder with the embezzlement of Gazprom stocks in absentia but Interpol rejected the Russian request to place him on the international most wanted list, justifying this decision by stating that the request was politically motivated.
"There is an agreement that a delegation from the Russian Interior Ministry and the Prosecutor General's Office will meet with Interpol Secretary General Ronald Noble in Lyon after October 20. The negotiations will focus on prospects for an international search for Browder," a source familiar with the situation told Interfax on Wednesday.
The Interpol chief, who proposed that they negotiate matters related to the search for Browder with Russia, was originally expected to come to Moscow, but the sides later agreed that the meeting would take place at the Interpol headquarters in Lyon, the source said.
