Defense enterprises get program to develop robot equipment approved by Defense Ministry
The Russian Defense Ministry has approved a program to develop robot equipment and the Russian defense industry is now becoming familiar with it, Oleg Bochrakyov, deputy chairman of the Russia government military-industrial commission, told reporters.
"The Defense Ministry has approved a program to develop robot equipment. The industry is now becoming familiar with it and we will decide on the scenario for further actions in the nearest future," he said.
Bochkaryov recalled that an interdepartmental working group Robot Equipment Laboratory has recently been created in the military-industrial commission. "The military-industrial commission has appointed Oleg Martyanov, a member of the military-industrial commission, as head of this laboratory," he said.
At the same time, Bochkaryov said it is now too early to speak about the creation of a unified industry center in this area.
"There are currently some differences on the understanding, on the strategy for the development of robot equipment, and therefore everyone is preparing his own proposals as to which a competence center should be created in a specific enterprise or group of enterprises," he said.
The first session of the Robot Equipment Laboratory, which had over 100 participants, has recently been held he said. Some forty enterprises intend to work in this area, Bochkaryov said.
"There are many participants and the interest in the industry is very high. The Defense Ministry has announced the 'robotization' program, and that shook the scientific and industrial public," he said.
