State Duma speaker to attend Pope Francis's inauguration ceremony in Vatican

Russian State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin will attend the ceremony in the Vatican at which Pope Francis will be officially installed as the new leader of the Roman Catholic Church.

"On behalf of the Russian Federation, I will attend the inauguration of the newly elected pontiff on Tuesday," Naryshkin told journalists on Friday.
The State Duma speaker will lead Russia's delegation to the ceremony.
On Wednesday, cardinals chose Argentina's Cardinal Jorge Maria Bergoglio as the next pope after two days of deliberations. He will take the name of Francis and become the first Latin American and the first Jesuit pope.
