Thirty-six illegal casinos found in Moscow region
The police have closed 36 illegal casinos in Moscow and the Moscow Region, seizing almost 500 gambling machines, the Interior Ministry's press center has reported.
"Officials from the Interior Ministry's Main Economic Security Department carried out a set of operations eliminating 36 illegal gambling clubs in Moscow and in the cities of Pushkino, Shchyolkovo, Korolyov, Podolsk, Khimki, Balashikha, Reutov, Mozhaisk, Noginsk and Ivanteyevka," the press center told Interfax on Monday.
The police have found several dozen addresses where gambling clubs operated under the guise of betting houses, restaurants and Internet cafes, and also apartments where illegal poker and other games were organized.
"The police seized over 440 gambling machines, seven poker tables, 26 gambling machines accepting bills, and over 1 million rubles, the source said.
The criminals' revenues are estimated at over 100 million rubles, the source said.
"In addition, operatives from the Main Economic Security Department with support from the Rys unit have closed a casino located in an old mansion in central Moscow," the source said.
"The materials that have been collected have been sent to the investigators, who will make a decision on them," the police said.
