"In the past ten years, we have seen a general increase in exports, which have tripled since 2003, and the military-purpose products orders portfolio has also tripled. Its value currently exceeds $46 billion," Fomin told an intercom meeting on state defense contracts held in the Russian Government House.
The value of state defense contracts in the export component reached $4.4 billion as of late 2012, he said.
The exports in monetary terms went up $2 billion from 2011. In 2011, they reached $13.2 billion, Fomin said.
Among the new countries with which Russia has begun military-technical cooperation or the countries with which it has now worked for a long time, Fomin named Ghana, Oman, Tanzania and Afghanistan. He specified that the Federal Service on Military-Technical Cooperation has trained Afghan helicopter pilots to fly Russian helicopters.
