This week Russian and American students gathered together for the 5th Stanford U.S.-Russia Forum (SURF) in Moscow. Over the next four months, the students are going to be working together on joint research projects aimed at bolstering U.S.-Russia relations.

Annually held in Russia and the U.S., the forum brings together students from some of the world’s top universities: Yale, Stanford, University of Pennsylvania, University of California – Los Angeles (UCLA), University of California – Berkeley (UC Berkeley), Moscow State University (MGU), Higher School of Economics (HSE), Moscow Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) and others.

The major goal of SURF is to improve U.S.–Russia relations and increase close collaboration between the two countries in different fields, including politics, business, education, space exploration, environmental protection and innovation.

The SURF conference was supported by Gorcahkov Foundation for Public Diplomacy.
