14:08 January 15, 2013
Russian Audit Chamber Chairman Sergei Stepashin has pledged to keep an eye on the construction of stadiums and infrastructural facilities ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in Russia.
"We will both inspect stadiums and control all budget funds because they will also be spent on infrastructural facilities - roads, airports, hotels," Stepashin said at a press conference at the Interfax central office on Tuesday.
The chamber has already signed an appropriate agreement with Russian Sports Minister and Russia 2018 Organizing Committee Chairman Vitaly Mutko, he said.
