President Vladimir Putin greeted the Russian media on Russian Press Day, the Kremlin press service reported on Sunday.

"In our age of information the traditionally great role of the mass media assumes special significance - the way the public regards the developments and evaluates future plans and everything that has already been done depends on the skills, talent, objectiveness and impartiality and sometimes the civic boldness of the journalist," the president noted.

Putin wished Russian journalists new interesting projects and successful creative efforts and assured them that "the state which is especially important for Russia where thousands of media operate in every region will continue doing everything necessary to guarantee due conditions for their work, for true independence in presenting information."
