The Amurskaya dry-cargo ship, which went missing near the Shantar Islands on Oct. 28, was carrying 700 tons of gold ore to Okhotsk, the Far Eastern transport prosecutor's office reported on Monday.

The prosecutors are verifying the observation of shipping safety rules.

Earlier reports said that an emergency beacon of the ship manned by eight sailors sent a call of distress before the ship disappeared. The Novik tanker and two fishing trawlers are searching for the Amurskaya. A Beriyev Be-200 rescue aircraft has had to quit the search-and-rescue due to bad weather.
