Medvedev: United Russia's regional-level activities more important than top-level work
Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, leader of the United Russia party, argued on Saturday that party work at regional level is more important than that at the top level, and that it is regional activities that explained United Russia's victory at this month's nationwide regional elections.
"It is not because the leadership of the country supported many important projects that the party achieved its success," Medvedev said at a meeting with United Russia's top brass. "The leaders are, of course, important, and we will continue to help. But work at regional level is more important. That's why such results were achieved."
Medvedev again praised the law to increase the financing of parties that have won a minimum of 3 percent of votes at State Duma elections. The law is a stimulus for parties to be more active, he argued.
