Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has criticized the attitude adopted by the U.S. authorities to U.S. citizens subjecting adopted Russian children to violence.

"We have more than once expressed our outrage at the way the U.S. judicial system treats U.S. citizens who adopt children from Russia and then subject them to cruel treatment, rape them, and even subject them to incidents resulting in the children's deaths. It's unacceptable when people guilty of cruel treatment of Russian children either get suspended sentences or are released in the courtroom," Lavrov said during a business breakfast with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
