Health Ministry: Life expectancy in Russia reaches 70.3 years
Life expectancy has grown and morality declined in Russia, Health Minister Veronika Skvortsova has announced.

"The demographic situation in Russia has improved significantly in the past few years thanks to the implementation of a set of government measures. Life expectancy has reached 70.3 years while mortality has gone down by 5.6 percent, which is the best figure in 19 years. On the whole, population loss has contracted by 44 percent," the Health Ministry press service told Interfax quoting Skvortsova.
The minister said that preventive efforts are required to combat the spread of non-infections diseases that are one of the main causes for mortality and disability.
"We plan to return to the system of regular preventive medical examinations and screening. A newly developed program of screening will be presented as part of the government program of advancing health protection until 2020," Skvortsova said.
