Russia has no plans to heed PACE democracy recommendations - Peskov
12:45 October 4, 2012
The Kremlin has described the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly's (PACE) recommendations on how to make Russia's government system more democratic as inappropriate, saying that it has no intention of heeding them.
"We do not think that such statements and calls are appropriate. Certainly, we will not heed them," the Russian president's press secretary Dmitry Peskov told Interfax on Thursday.
In its resolution, PACE called on Russian President Vladimir Putin not to strengthen the authoritarian nature of the system, but democratize it.
