United Russia doesn't take seriously elections to opposition Coordination Council
The administration of United Russia already knows who will be elected to the opposition Coordination Council, which will be elected over the Internet.
United Russia believes among the people elected to the council will be Gennady Gudkov, Ilya Ponomaryov, and Alexei Navalny.
"How do they organize the elections to the so-called Coordination Council of the 'Bolotnaya' opposition? The number of intrigues, scandals, and attempts to promote their 'friends' is beyond count," Sergei Neverov, deputy speaker of the State Duma and secretary of the general council of the United Russia General Council said in the State Duma on Friday.
Neverov called the procedure "funny," saying it should not be taken seriously because the elections are conducted over the Internet and no one can guarantee the observance of the secrecy of voting, which is a major democratic principle.
"Now I will name with 100% certainty the people who will be elected in these 'fair' elections. Gudkov, who has recently been asked to leave the State Duma for cynically violating all legal and moral norms. We remember how hysterical Gennady Vladimirovich [Gudkov] became when he tried to hold on to his deputy status. He was not ashamed to tell millions of people that he believes life without the status of a State Duma deputy is nothing else than reprisal," Neverov said.
Speaking about Ilya Ponomaryov, a member of the A Just Russia faction of the State Duma, Neverov said that he "initially did not want to pay 10,000 rubles to run in the elections: it turns out they have to pay to run in elections."
Neverov also pointed out that the law enforcement agencies have a lot of questions to Alexei Navalny because of his activities in the company Kirovles.
