Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said he hopes that the leaders of Russia and the European Union will give an instruction to begin signing a visa-free travel agreement at the sides' summit in December.

"In our opinion, there are no reasons capable of stopping us from taking all of these steps [the so-called list of Russian-EU joint steps to switch to visa-free travel] by the December summit and asking the president of the Russian Federation and the EU leadership to give an instruction to start the signing of an agreement on visa-free travel," Lavrov told journalists on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly's session.
