15:41 September 26, 2012
Federation Council members running a business will lose their mandates, Federation Council Chairperson Valentina Matviyenko said on Wednesday.
The Federation Council Anti-Corruption Commission will verify the possible engagement of house members in business operations within a month, she said. Russian parliament members are prohibited to combine their work with entrepreneurship.
"If a Senator proves to be running a business, he will lose the mandate and the region he represents in the house will have to recall him," Matviyenko said.
She advised every Federation Council member to evaluate the compliance of their activity with the law.
