Royal Dutch Shell is interested in joining projects to explore Russia's Arctic, the company's Executive Vice President for Exploration and Production Guy Outen said at the Sakhalin Oil & Gas 2012 international conference on Tuesday.

Shell believes that Russia will become much more competitive as a result of working in its Arctic region, Outen said.

Shell came to the Arctic at the beginning of the 20th century, he said.

The company has set a huge number of Arctic records and has proved its ability to work expertly and safely, he said.

That is why Shell is interested in jointly exploring Russia's Arctic, Outen said.
