Russian President Vladimir Putin agrees with the Foreign Ministry's opinion about the role the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is playing in Russia, Vedomosti reported on Thursday.

"The president has an identical position," Vedomosti quoted presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying.

It was reported earlier that Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich had said in a statement on Wednesday that USAID tried to influence political processes in Russia.

The Moscow office of USAID has been told to end its activity in Russia by October 1, 2012, as, in the Foreign Ministry's view, activities in which its representatives in Russia are involved go beyond the promotion of bilateral humanitarian cooperation.
