Central Elections Commission expects high turnout in Oct. 14 elections
The Central Elections Commission hopes for a high turnout in the October 14 elections in regions, Commission Deputy Chairman Leonid Ivlev said.
"Generally, election campaigns in regions are much calmer. Canvassing has shifted to municipalities, towns and villages. The election campaign is much more interesting this time, and we expect a higher turnout due to the appearance of new actors and a certain drive created by new parties," he said.
In his words, the Central Elections Commission will have web camera monitoring at polling stations again.
"First of all, there will be web cameras at polling stations in gubernatorial elections, especially in big cities. We have an agreement to the effect with Rostelecom," Ivlev said.
Seventy-seven regions will have elections on October 14, he added.
