Russian scale model museum robbed in St. Petersburg
Five men broke into the St. Petersburg Grand Model Museum early on Monday morning. The museum displays an 800-square-meter model of Russia.
The robbers came through the unlocked door, battered a museum attendant and tied up with plastic bands the beaten attendant, a deputy technical director, two model makers and two janitors, a police source told Interfax.
"They stole five metal boxes containing money and documents, as well as video camera recordings, and drove off. The value of the stolen property is being determined," he said.
According to the source, investigative procedures have started.
Interfax has not received an official confirmation of the incident.
The Grand Model Museum is located at 16, Tsvetochnaya Street. It presents a scale model of Russia with authentic geography, cities, landmarks, and historical buildings and sights from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok.
