Russia to raise Bout, Yaroshenko extradition issue soon - Justice Ministry
In the near future, Russia will have completed all the necessary procedures to request that Viktor Bout and Konstantin Yaroshenko be extradited from the U.S.
"The technical aspects of this work are being finalized and we will have an opportunity to say soon that this issue has been raised before the U.S. gvernment in full compliance with the established procedure," Russian Justice Minister Alexander Konovalov said at a press briefing on Friday.
"There is too much bureaucracy in this difficult issue,' he said.
"The work has just begun. We are to accumulate the legal content now to be able to request Mr. Bout's extradition to Russia where he would serve his term and to get his statement to the American authorities saying that he will comply," Konovalov said.
The work on Yaroshenko extradition is at the same stage, he said.
"Unfortunately, we do not know how quickly the American judiciary will tackle this problem. We will be doing all we can in contacts between the ministries and through diplomatic channels," the ministers aid.
